Welcome to the WHIT Program – Tutoring for Kids in Foster Care
Foster kids start out behind. We want to catch them up.
Most kids in foster care are behind their peers in school. The WHIT program works with volunteers to provide free tutoring to kids in foster care. Our goal is to bring each child in foster care up to grade level in reading and math.
Volunteers
We match volunteer tutors with the children in need of tutoring. If you would like to volunteer, please click here or on the button below. All of our tutors are required to pass a criminal background check before being accepted into the program.

WHIT stands for Weekly Hands-on Individual Tutoring.
We work with Child Protective Services to identify children in foster care, or who are in the CPS system, who need additional help with their education (math and reading). Our service area currently is limited to San Angelo, Texas, but we expect to expand in the near future.
